Cid Benedict Telin, a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) freshman, and Greg Jacobe, a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) freshman, won gold and silver awards respectively during the Philippine International Mathematical Olympiad (PhIMO) on September 20-23, held at the EVM Convention Center, Quezon City.
The competition consisted of two categories, senior and junior. Telin clinched gold while Jacobe settled with silver in the senior category.
Telin shared that accomplishing such a prestigious award is all about always giving your best in what you want to achieve, and it goes the same way for others.
Approximately 1,700 participants attended the olympiad, with delegates from participating countries like the Philippines, Australia, Cambodia, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Myanmar, Taiwan, and Thailand.
Overall, team Philippines, represented by team Sogod National High School, achieved 2 golds, 1 silver, 3 bronze, 1 Merit award, 1 outstanding Regional EPS in Math, and 2 outstanding coaches awards in the PhIMO competition. #MightyKingfishers
