Department of Civil Engineering at Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) proudly recognized its alumni for their resilience and determination during a Recognition Ceremony for the November 2024 Civil Engineering Licensure Exam (CELE) passers. The event took place at the SLSU Multi-Purpose Court on Tuesday, December 17.
The day began with a Thanksgiving Mass at the Multi-Purpose Court, followed by a motorcade from SLSU – Main Campus to SLSU – Bontoc Campus, acknowledging and celebrating their success along with their proud parents.
The ceremony starts with welcome remarks from the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Engr. Julius O. Paler, who welcomes and acknowledges the presence of the University President, Dr. Jude A. Duarte, faculty staff, proud parents, and soon-to-be civil engineers. He also praised the graduates for their perseverance in reaching this important achievement.
Afterward, Dr. Jude A. Duarte, University President, delivered an inspiring message to the passers, particularly highlighting the historic achievement of Engr. Jason T. Bordas, the university’s first-ever Civil Engineering topnotcher. He expressed immense pride in this milestone and urged everyone to maintain their integrity as they move forward in their careers.
The Ched Region 8 Education Supervisor, Engr. Nelly L. Labrada, delivers her powerful speech to the newly registered civil engineers and congratulates every passer on their achievements as well as to the institution. She also expresses her appreciation to Engr. Jason T. Bordas for bringing honor not only to his institution but also to his family and friends. Her powerful words keep our minds focused on the power of determination and perseverance in shaping a better future.
Each passer received a certificate of recognition awarded by Dr. Jude A. Duarte, the University President, Dr. Constantino Medilo, Vice President of Academic Affairs, and Engr. Julius O. Paler, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, together with Engr. Nelly L. Labrada, our keynote speaker. The topnotcher of the November 2024 Civil Engineering Licensure Examination, Engr. Jason T. Bordas, claimed a prestigious award due to his extraordinary efforts and achieved being the Top 4 among the newly registered Civil Engineering graduates. Additionally, he has been awarded the honor of being the first-ever Cum Laude in civil engineering at Southern Leyte State University.
On behalf of the 33 newly registered Civil Engineers, 8 of them, including the Topnotcher Engr. Jason T. Bordas, delivered their testimonial speech to aspiring civil engineering students. The Topnotcher Jason T. Bordas stated his excellent journey on how he achieved this historic breakthrough; his determination and passion led him to where he is now, proving that aiming high can achieve great things. He is truly exceptional, fostering camaraderie with everyone that boosts his life and motivates others to be their best.
The closing remarks are addressed to Engr. Carmel D. Aniga, thanking each passer and the topnotcher for the honor they brought to the university. She also reminded the newly graduated civil engineers that what they have achieved is the result of their efforts, determination, and hard work throughout their journey. She also expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Engr. Bordas for his commitment and resilience, which paid off with that historic breakthrough in the history of Southern Leyte State University.
