After the comprehensive orientation for freshmen and transferees held yesterday, August 11, Southern Leyte State University-Main Campus continued its warm welcome with the Student Unity & Responsibility Through Orientation & Youth Engagement (SUROY) sa SLSU 2025, organized by the Supreme Student Council (SSC) starting at the university’s Multi-Purpose Court.

The orientation program, which ran the entire day of August 11, familiarized students with the university’s vision, mission, goals, core values, policies, facilities, and student support services. The morning session featured messages from University President Dr. Jude A. Duarte and Board Secretary Dr. Mabel R. Calva, along with presentations from various offices, special advocacy talks, and cultural performances. The afternoon session showcased cultural, sports, and student development opportunities, as well as discussions on safety, inclusivity, and campus discipline, concluding with an open forum.

The following day, SUROY sa SLSU 2025 brought the new students on a campus tour, attended by freshmen, transferees, and organization officers. The event opened with a warm message from Dr. Marie Khul C. Langub, Vice President for Student Affairs and Services, who encouraged participants to enjoy exploring the campus and making friends.

Performances by the SSC and student leaders energized the crowd before the tour began, while SSC-elect Felmer Anocop shared reminders to ensure a smooth and memorable experience.

The SUROY activity, facilitated by every faculty members highlighted booths from each faculty and student organization. The success of the event was made possible through the strong support of the Student Affairs and Services (SAS) officials and the dedication of student leaders, whose combined efforts ensured that the activities ran smoothly and achieved their goal of helping students build connections and confidence as they start their academic journey at SLSU.
