To fortify and advance students’ knowledge on modern leadership, the Supreme Student Council (SSC) of Southern Leyte State University – Sogod Campus gathered the student leaders from different campuses for the Student Leadership Convergence 2025, today, August 13, at SLSU Hotel Ballroom.
Focusing on the power of leadership, Dr. Jude A. Duarte, University President, officially opened the program with a warm welcome address, followed by an inspiring keynote speech from Hon. Following the keynote, a series of thematic presentations enriched the participants’ perspectives on leadership and social responsibility. Ms. Frances Paula P. Libo-on, Ms. Carla Bianca O. Serut, and Ms. Jozelle Jhea P. Dela Cruz delivered “Leading with Integrity: Student Leaders as Champions of FOI,” highlighting the value of transparency and access to information. Mr. Cesar Augusto E. Villanueva, Jr. discussed “Championing Youth Financial Inclusion for Tomorrow’s Leaders,” stressing the importance of financial literacy and inclusion. Meanwhile, Mr. Jayson C. The day drew to a close with the unveiling of action plans—innovative, advocacy-centered, and sustainable projects inspired by the sessions after the workshop done by the student leaders. The momentum carried into a symbolic commitment signing, the awarding of certificates, and closing remarks from the Head of Student Development Services, Ms. Beverly Ann Isaga. As the convergence wrapped up, it stood not merely as an event but as a powerful catalyst—sending participants home inspired, equipped, and determined to lead the charge toward a brighter, more inclusive future.
Spearheaded by the Supreme Student Council of Sogod Campus and backed wholeheartedly by the faculty and staff, the event embraced the theme “Empowering Young Leaders Through Advocacy, Transparency, and Climate Action”. It became a vibrant meeting ground for emerging and future generation of leaders—a day filled with thought-provoking discussions, dynamic collaboration, and the shared pursuit of meaningful advocacy.
