Southern Leyte State University-Main Campus officially opened Hugyaw 2025 with a vibrant parade, bringing together students, faculty, and delegates from various campuses in a grand celebration of culture and unity today, March 7, held at the Multi-Purpose Court (MPC).
Dr. Eda J. Opina, Director of Public Affairs and Strategic Communication, warmly welcomed the attendees and hosted the event, setting the tone for an exciting and meaningful gathering.
University President, Dr. Jude A. Duarte, delivered an inspirational message, emphasizing the importance of staying true to SLSU’s mission. He also extended his heartfelt welcome to the delegates from different SLSU campuses, including the faculty and staff.
“As we mark our 21st anniversary, we celebrate not only our achievements but also the opportunities that continue to come our way,” Dr. Duarte expressed.
Shortly after, the much-anticipated Hugyaw Festival commenced, featuring dynamic performances that showcased the rich cultural heritage of different regions in the Philippines.
The Main Campus opened the festival with their dance performance, followed by Bontoc Campus, San Juan Campus, Maasin Campus, Hinunangan Campus, and Tomas Oppus Campus, each bringing their own unique interpretation of tradition and festivity.
Following the performances, delegates from all SLSU campuses came together in a spirited Dance, symbolizing unity and shared celebration.
