First-ever U-Idols showcases talents, skills

Contested by the students coming from the six campuses of Southern Leyte State University, the first-ever U-Idols was held on Monday, March 6, 2023.

U-Idols is a battle of talents and skills for literary, visual, and performing arts, one of the activities in light with the celebration of Southern Leyte State U’s 19th Founding Anniversary.

An orientation of the said activity was done in the morning followed by the contest proper for photography, painting, sanaysay, and essay writing contests during the afternoon. Representatives from six campuses also participated in the pop solo, vocal duet, and street dance competitions in the evening.

Here are the list of winners for the different categories:

Essay Writing:

1st place – Hinunangan Campus

2nd place – San Juan Campus

3rd place – Maasin City Campus

Sanaysay:

1st place – Tomas Oppus Campus

2nd place – San Juan Campus

3rd place – Maasin City Campus

Painting:

1st place – Main Campus

2nd place – COT Main Campus

3rd place – Maasin City Campus

Photography:

1st place – Hinunangan Campus

2nd place – Bontoc Campus

3rd place – San Juan Campus

Pop Solo:

1st place – San Juan Campus

2nd place – Main Campus

3rd place – Bontoc Campus

Vocal Duet

1st place – San Juan Campus

2nd place – Main Campus

3rd place – Tomas Oppus

Street Dance

1st place – Main Campus

2nd place – Bontoc Campus

3rd place – Hinunangan Campus

All 1st placers in the different categories competed will represent Southern Leyte State U in the regional competition for the Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC-8).
