Southern Leyte State University-Main Campus (SLSU-MC) celebrated National Women’s Month with the theme “Lipunang Patas sa Bagong Pilipinas: Kakayahan ng Kababaihan, Patutunayan!” at the SLSU Multi-Purpose Court (MPC), March 26, 2024.
Ms. Jona Mae C. Espere, the director of Gender and Development, headed the activity together with the Supreme Student Council (SSC). Ms. Espere shared that the activity is a culmination of the empowerment of women’s qualities that shape the environment around them.
The University President, Dr. Jude A. Duarte, in his speech, envisions the university to be “gender sensitive” and that it will be a community in which women are greatly appreciated for their contributions.
The program included Spoken Poetry, Singing, Pop Dance, and Quiz Bee competitions. Few representatives from the different colleges participated and attended the activity.
Mr. Rey G. Comabig, the head of the Student Development Services, said in his closing remarks that the institution will continue to empower and advocate the importance of women in the industry. He also looked forward to the participation of students in the future Women’s Month Celebration.
