Southern Leyte State University (SLSU), in collaboration with Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH), conducted a lecture alongside the SLSU student leader organizations on navigating cross-cultural leadership in a globalized era today, March 3, 2025, at the Ballroom of Hotel de SLSU.
Dr. Marie Khul C. Langub, Vice President for Student and Auxiliary Services (SAS), welcomed the guests from HUTECH, as well as the students and faculty of SLSU in attendance.
Ms. Vo Thuy Thanh Tam, MBA, led the discussion on cross-cultural leadership, highlighting its insights, challenges, and recommendations. This was followed by an online presentation from Ms. Nguyen Nhu Quynh Doan, MBA, who discussed how cross-cultural leadership enhances skills in fostering connections and understanding among leaders.
An open forum followed, where Ms. Vo Thuy Thanh Tam, MBA, was asked about the core principles of cross-cultural leadership and its relevance in today’s globally competitive world.
“It is important to respect differences, keep an open mind, and show empathy,” she responded.
Meanwhile, Dr. Nguyen Luu Thanh Tan, Vice Dean at HUTECH, emphasized that there are no fixed principles of cross-cultural leadership. Instead, he stressed the importance of confidence, emotional intelligence (EQ), and intellectual intelligence (IQ) when engaging with diverse cultural backgrounds.
The collaboration between SLSU and HUTECH continues to strengthen, marking another milestone in fostering camaraderie and mutual respect.
