Electrical Engineering alumnus lands 3rd in April 2023 master electrician licensure exam

Southern Leyte State University celebrates another triumph as one of its Electrical Engineering alumni made it to the top!

Mr. Wowie S. Hayagan places third and led 11 other new Mighty Kingfisher master electricians in the April 2023 Registered Master Electricians Licensure Examination administered by the Professional Regulations Commission (PRC)

The young lad from Sogod, Southern Leyte was also among the 986 passers in the entire country and obtained an individual rating of 93%. He graduated at SLSU-Main Campus in July 2022.

A total of 11 alumni passed the licensure exam for master electrician, obtaining an institutional passing rate of 57.89%. This surpasses the national passing rate of only 42.21%

On the other hand, Southern Leyte State U also registers 32 newly licensed Electrical Engineers, with 27 first-time takers. The university posted an institutional rating of 68.09%, surpassing the national passing rate of 57.86%

Further, Engr. Christsen Mark Lasala Belleza passed the upgraded Professional Electrical Engineer (PEE).

Engr. Julius Paler, the Dean of the College of Engineering, congratulated the new set of Electrical Engineers and Master Electricians for their impressive achievement in obtaining their licenses.

Engr. Paler recognized the significant challenges they faced in pursuing their goals and commended their perseverance in overcoming these difficulties.

He also highlighted the crucial role that their university education played in preparing them for success, teaching them to approach problems as opportunities and to thrive in the face of adversity.

His remarks underscore the importance of quality education in equipping individuals with the skills and mindset to excel in their chosen professions.

Meanwhile, University President, Dr. Jude A. Duarte, also offered his congratulations to Mr. Hayagan and the other successful examinees from SLSU for passing the licensure exams for electrical engineers and master electricians.

Dr. Duarte expressed his pride in the program’s recognition as one of the best in the country, stating that their accomplishment was a testament to the hard work and dedication of the Department of Electrical Engineering and the College of Engineering.

“The university will continue to provide unwavering support to further enhance and strengthen our engineering programs,” Dr. Duarte said.

In April 2023, the Board of Electrical Engineering NCR, Baguio, Butuan, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Koronadal, Legazpi, Lucena, Pagadian, Palawan, Pampanga, Rosales, Tacloban, Tuguegarao, and Zamboanga administered the Registered Electrical Engineers Licensure Examination to 5,771 candidates, with 3,339 successfully passing the exam. Additionally, 986 out of 2,336 examinees passed the Registered Master Electricians Licensure Examination, according to PRC.
